Fórsa has agreed a list of priority issues with the National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) branch, ahead of its first meeting with management in the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
The union will seek clarification from the department on the consultation mechanisms envisaged as part of a government review of the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), among other issues.
Fórsa official Sean Carabini said that the union would participate fully with the process to ensure member’s concerns are raised. “We will take every opportunity to engage with the review to ensure that the voices and concerns of our members are heard as part of the review,” he said.
“It is particularly important that the people who are on the ground doing the work are afforded an opportunity to be part of it,” said Seán.
The union will also pursue a number of unresolved matters, including recruitment to both department and EU-funded positions, and the outstanding resourcing issue for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES).
The issue of starting pay for some NPWS grades will also be highlighted.
It’s never been more important – or more easy – to get the protections and benefits of union membership. Join Fórsa HERE or contact the union HERE.
