Fórsa is encouraging its members to make use of Education Support Centres located around the country.

Education Support Centres are modern purpose-built facilities, providing a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for collaboration, innovation and sharing of knowledge and expertise.

The principal activities of Education Support Centres include the delivery of a varied local programme of support, training and professional development for teachers, school management, parents and school community members in response to demand.

These centres facilitate the personal and professional development needs of the communities in primary and post-primary schools.

They are independent statutory bodies and are managed by voluntary Management Committees elected annually. There are 21 Education Support Centres in Ireland with full-time status and seven part–time centres located regionally.

Each Education Centre has a defined geographical area of responsibility within their region. The Education Support Centre network responds to learner, school and system requirements through the provision of high-quality learning opportunities.

Fórsa official Stella Griffin said it was imperative that members were made aware of these excellent centres that provide a range of resources around the country.

“If people need to rent a room for important meetings, need a space to study or focus these centres are the perfect space to do so. And by using these local resources, people can ensure their viability and continuity as the centres took a massive hit during the covid pandemic,” she said.

“Members around the country are encouraged to not only use these centres but also help spread the word about them as they would benefit from additional footfall,” Stella added.

Fórsa has also successfully secured department rates for all Education Centres which is a lot cheaper than what is paid from outside bookings.

The reduced rate works out at €75 for room hire for a day which includes tea, coffee and biscuits and tea and coffee on arrival and €16.29 for lunch - €6.09 per person for sandwich and €9.09 for soup and sandwiches.

The catering may vary between Education Centres in what they offer but the above rates are the reduced department rates.
