Fórsa will confirm the result of the industrial action ballot of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) staff in local authorities next week after the formal closure of the voting deadline today at 5pm.The ballot follows what the union has described as “years of management inaction” on recognising the professional status, pay, and responsibilities of ICT workers.

The campaign has drawn strong engagement from ICT members nationwide, with a marked surge in membership in recent weeks. Fórsa national secretary Richy Carrothers said the high turnout reflects deep frustration across the sector, as well as a growing determination to secure fair recognition, improved career pathways, and a consistent national approach to out-of-hours work.

Fórsa will issue an update to members after a meeting of the executive committee of the Local Government and Local Services division, which is scheduled to meet on Tuesday 9th December and will outline the next steps in the campaign.
