The Academic Senate of UCD recently took a decision to approve retrospective accreditation for those SNA students who completed the National SNA Training Programme before the Department of Education and UCD agreed on a Level 6 accreditation.

This means that SNA students who completed the programme without receiving an accredited academic award will now receive their Level 6 certificates.

This is the first time that retrospective accreditation has been approved by UCD and represent recognition of the value of the programme. UCD will be writing to that cohort of students shortly.

Head of Education Andy Pike welcomed the decision to provide retrospective accreditation for the first group of SNAs who completed the UCD Training Programme.

“They were the first SNAs to complete the course and they impressed everyone who met them with their enthusiasm, commitment and knowledge. I am very pleased that accreditation has now been secured for all the students who completed the programme. The UCD programme has succeeded beyond expectations and has demonstrated the value of the SNA role, it has set the standard for the future and the programme should be made accessible for all existing SNAs and also to all new SNAs who secure their first post in our schools,” he said.
