Fórsa officials are on site to provide support to members at Wexford General Hospital since yesterday, following the evacuation of more than 200 patients after a fire broke out at the hospital on Wednesday evening.

Public service pay will get a boost from this week under the terms of the Building Momentum review. While pay increases under the Building Momentum have been delayed in the HSE, Fórsa and other health unions are continuing to press the national health body to ensure that all pay terms are brought up to date.

Problems with recruitment and retention in some public services, including health services, are part of a wider European trend. 

Fórsa’s health and welfare members all across the country have been gathering at their branch annual general meetings (AGMs) over the last number of weeks.

Fórsa has raised concern at the number of workers reporting to suffer from unwanted sexual attention in the workplace.

The Spanish parliament has approved the creation of a sick leave for women suffering from incapacitating periods, becoming the first country in Europe to do so.
