Fórsa and Siptu are to discuss the terms of an offer from the Department of Social Protection designed to resolve the long-standing pensions issue affecting CE supervisors and assistant supervisors.

Fórsa official Tony Martin said the union’s CE branch met last week to consider the terms of the offer, ahead of an engagement with Siptu.

We’ll meet with Siptu colleagues to go over the details in the coming days. Potentially, we’re looking at the end of a very long road, which dates back to a 2008 Labour Court recommendation. We remain hopeful that this marks a positive outcome for our CE members,” he said.

Last week, in response to a parliamentary question from Michael Lowry TD, the minister confirmed that department officials wrote to the unions at the end of October setting out the terms of a “full and final” settlement.

“The total value of the financial element package now on the table is in excess of €24 million. This is a comprehensive and generous offer, which I am confident will bring this long standing matter to a conclusion,” he said.
