Fórsa members working across the health and welfare division will soon be asked to ballot for industrial action.

The division’s clerical administrative members will be asked to cast their vote in a dispute over recruitment pauses imposed upon the managerial/clerical administrative grades, while Fórsa’s health and social care professionals (HSCPs) will be balloted in a dispute over the employers’ failure to implement the career pathway review.

Members will soon receive critical information regarding these ballots, but in preparation the union has appealed to members to ensure their contact details are up to date to guarantee their voice is heard.

Fórsa’s Head of Health and Welfare Ashley Connolly encouraged members to update their details in advance, ensuring their vote is counted.

“Fórsa wants to ensure your voice is heard and we’re asking you to update your details ahead of ballots during the summer. We must work together to organise and mobilise workers around these issues in preparation,” she said.

Health and welfare members have already received an email from the union asking for their up-to-date contact information. If you have not yet received this email, Fórsa is asking members to email hwballot2023@forsa.ie with their employer, personal email and contact number.

This information will be held in strict compliance with the union’s data protection policy and used only for communications on union matters like the forthcoming ballots.

National Secretary for HSCPs, CORU and fitness to practise, Linda Kelly, encouraged members to share this message with colleagues.

“If you are reading this and know of colleagues who have not yet updated their details, please urge them to do so. It’s so important for members to receive these essential updates,” she said.

Fórsa’s Director of Membership Seán McElhinney said the response to date was “outstanding”.

“We need to keep that momentum going. We want to ensure your vote in the upcoming ballot is counted, it’s vital that your union can make contact with you so spread the word,” he said.

There’s never been a better time to join a union, and it’s never been easier. Join Fórsa today.
