Aer Lingus cabin crew members win on pay

“Aer Lingus were originally only going to convert the 1.5% or 750e value into a consolidated payment this year, however on the back of engagement from cabin crew members we have achieved the agreement that the voucher will be paid and that a 1.5% pay increase will also happen, which is a huge win for members.”

Cabin crew have won a 1.5% pay increase effective from next year and will receive an unconsolidated payment of 1.5% or €750 (whichever is the greatest), which was part of last year’s pay deal, to be paid no later than 17th November, as a tax-free voucher.

The pay deal approved by cabin crew members last year included a clause to allow a review of the agreement if another group achieved a greater basic pay increase.

Following the successful conclusion of the IALPA/Aer Lingus pilots pay dispute earlier this year, the airline group of unions, coordinated by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) wrote to management seeking re-engagement on the agreement, to align pay with the elements of the pilots’ pay deal that were applicable to other groups.

This pay deal also applies to Fórsa members of our IAESA branch, who are covered by the collective agreement.

Confirming a successful outcome of the engagement Aer Lingus wrote to ICTU on Thursday 17th October confirming that both a once off payment of 1.5% or 750euro (whichever is the greatest) would be paid this year as a tax-free voucher and that a 1.5% pay increase will be consolidated onto cabin crew pay in 2025.

Fórsa official Lisa Connell said: “Aer Lingus were originally only going to convert the 1.5% or 750e value into a consolidated payment this year, however on the back of engagement from cabin crew members we have achieved the agreement that the voucher will be paid and that a 1.5% pay increase will also happen, which is a huge win for members.”

She continued: “At this point, management are contacting staff on an ad hoc basis confirming how the payment will be paid. This wouldn’t have happened without the branch’s hard work and shows how much can be achieved when members organise.”

In a communication to members the cabin crew branch executive committee said: “We are now urgently seeking the continuation of the negotiations with management on the further enhancements achieved by the pilots, to bring us in line with what they received. We would like to thank all of you for your patience while we engage with the employer on behalf of the members."
