Fórsa criticised what it describes as multiple failures of leadership by the Department of Health. In an opening statement to the Joint Oireachtas Health Committee last week, Fórsa officials said the department’s current approach to leadership involves ignoring staff concerns about a broad range of issues.

Fórsa has written to the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman TD, to express what it says are the union’s ‘grave concerns’ on the proposed rate of pay, allocated for domestic violence leave.

Fórsa’s Kildare Health branch successfully ran a local competition earlier this week, with the winner receiving lifesaving automated external defibrillator (AED) equipment up to the value of €1,000 for a first responder group or community organisation in the area.

Fórsa’s North-East Health and Welfare and Local Government branches came together last week (9th February) to hold the first branch led training and organising event since the pandemic.
