Fórsa officials are engaged in intense discussions with Dublin City Council management over the its proposed ‘super depot.’

Along with representatives from other council unions, Fórsa is working to address issues arising from the proposed relocation of services and staff.

There have been a number of meetings with management over the proposed depot, which would house a range of operations in a single location.

Officially called the North City Operations Depot, the facility would be the base for waste management services, electrical services, public lighting, housing, roads maintenance, traffic, drainage, surface water maintenance unit and stores, as well as he administrative support to these departments.

Fórsa official Maura Cahalan said the massive project presented a unique opportunity for engagement with management to address services which have been outsourced, and to bring them back into local authority control.

Further engagement is expected, and the union officials have described this period of negotiations as “a critical stage” to ensure that the facility is fit for purpose and that any potential challenges are addressed prior to its completion.

The group of unions have made their availability known for several occasions to engage with management and iron out issues as a matter of urgency.

The super depot proposal has the potential to provide high quality facilities for staff, and Fórsa is committed to ensuring that the facility champions safety and efficiency.
