The escalation of industrial action planned to take place today and next week, in the form of a 24-hour email ban and a 48-hour phone ban, was paused yesterday evening, Thursday 21 September. Following engagement between Fórsa and the LGMA agreement was reached to return to the Workplace Relations Commission on Monday 25th September.

Fórsa national secretary Richy Carrothers welcomed this development, saying “Throughout this dispute we have remained ready and willing to engage with the LGMA. We will bring a solution focused approach to talks on Monday. Nonetheless, our resolve remains strong, as does our mandate from our members. Job evaluation already exists across other sectors, and we believe that workers in local authorities are entitled to it.”

While the escalation of industrial action has been deferred, the indefinite ban on non-statutory political representations continues. We recognise that this ban is a challenge for members and appreciate your continued commitment to this industrial action. As soon as updates become available members will be informed.
