Fórsa’s Kildare Health branch has presented Kill GAA club with a brand-new defibrillator following its radio competition on local Kildare radio station, KFM.

The competition ran from Monday 20th October to Friday 24th October 2025. It was won by Kill GAA club member and reserve senior player Paul Hudson, who nominated the club to receive the prize.

The competition was organised as part of the branch’s community engagement work. KFM kindly agreed to run the competition on behalf of the branch which supplied the prize of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment (defibrillator, storage box, pads, batteries, etc.) up to the value of €1,500.

Kildare Health branch executive member Keivan Jackson joined prize winner Paul Hudson, Ronan Lafferty, vice-chair of Kill GAA and Hannah Kelly, KFM presenter, in KFM’s Naas studio to present the prize on Wednesday 12th November.

Keivan said: “We’re proud to be able to present this equipment to Paul and Kill GAA Club. They’re a great club, at the heart of their community. They’ll have people of all ages and levels of health playing and supporting every week so it’s fantastic that they will have AED equipment on hand should the worst happen.”

The AED equipment will be kept on hand and made available to first responders in case of a cardiac emergency. First responders are volunteer members of the community who have undertaken training to be able to perform first aid in cardiac emergencies.

Keivan said: “As a health branch, our members work in the HSE and HSE-funded agencies. We know the value of first responders having immediate access to AED equipment when it’s needed.”

Kildare Health branch chair Gary Buckley added, “With the competition we wanted to continue making connections to communities across the county, but also, by giving away AED equipment, we wanted to do what we can to keep our friends and neighbours safe,” he concluded.
