Improved annual leave proposal received
by Bernard Harbor

The Local Government Oversight Group, which oversees compliance with the Public Service Stability Agreement (PSSA), has made proposals to resolve a dispute over annual leave for local government workers who are acting up to a higher grade.

Until now, local authority employers have insisted that the workers should be treated as if they had been promoted, which means a reduction in leave in most cases.

Fórsa argued that this was denying them guarantees won by the union when new national leave levels were introduced.

The new proposals would see workers who act up into a higher grade retaining their appropriate leave. They will be considered by the union’s Local Government Divisional Executive next week.
