Union representatives met Aer Lingus management this week, on Wednesday 29th July, in the first engagement since the airline announced job cuts earlier in the month.  

The meetings focused on the company’s stated rationale for the proposed cuts, the protections available to members, and the union position on any redundancy process. 

Representatives of Fórsa’s Cabin Crew and IAESA branches met airline management alongside representatives of the ICTU group of unions.  IALPA representatives met the airline separately.  

The ICTU group of unions told the company that the recent announcement appears to be driven at group level within IAG and raises concerns about the company’s failure to meet its legal obligations to inform and consult with the IAG European Works Council. 

The union reiterated its firm opposition to compulsory redundancies. Further meetings are expected in the coming weeks.
