The amalgamation of three departments at Louth County Council will be delayed until October to allow for proper consultation with Fórsa.

This was confirmed to the union after it raised concerns about the move with council management.

Fórsa was responding to reports that the council was seeking to amalgamate the motor tax, cash office, and customer services departments. This was also pursued on foot of members contacting the union to raise their concerns in relation to this development.

Union officials drew the council’s attention to the prevailing public service agreements in relation to consultation and engagement, and said it was the union’s understanding that this had not occurred locally as it should.

Fórsa asked for any plans to amalgamate these areas to be halted to allow for proper consultation and engagement between the union and Louth County Council. The union is now continuing to raise members’ concerns with the council.
