Fórsa raises concerns on ‘belly bins’

WRC to discuss Irish Water

Fórsa will outline concerns over plans to establish a single water utility at a meeting of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) on 5th July. The meeting comes on the heels of a verbal submission by Fórsa and other unions at an Oireachtas committee inquiry into the future of public water services last week, where Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) representatives outlined their concerns over Ervia proposals to establish a single public service utility by 2021.

Unpaid parental leave may increase

The maximum unpaid parental leave entitlement of 18 weeks per child could rise to 26 weeks if the Parental Leave (Amendment) Bill 2017, which passed through the Dáil last week, becomes law. The Bill, which was put down by the Social Democrats, would also extend the threshold for parental leave from eight years of age to 12.
