A Refresher Guide to Motion Development

Dear Colleagues,

You will already have been notified of our upcoming A Refresher Guide to Motion Development aimed specifically at members of the Services & Enterprises Division to encourage participation at local and divisional level.

As one of the best examples of workplace democracy, the AGM is your platform and opportunity to have your issues, and those of your colleagues, raised and discussed, and if agreed by the body of the meeting, there are ways in which such issues can become union policy, a union campaign or some other mechanism for priority action and resolution.

The focus of this information session is the humble motion, simple in concept but powerful in practice.

Whilst constructing a motion in itself is not an onerous task, there are a few hints and tips that we would like to remind you about during this short session to make your motions all the more effective.

There will be two opportunities in which you can participate in this ONLINE learning, both taking place on Monday 5th December, the first at lunchtime 1300-1430 with the second at 1700-1830 where we will go through the purpose of a motion, how it can be constructed and what to look out for when developing one.

These sessions are open to ALL MEMBERS of the Services and Enterprises Division, and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to them. The link to the application form is HERE and it must be completed by close of business on Wednesday 30th November 2022.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line at Skills Academy skillsacademy@forsa.ie and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.

Kindest regards,

Skills Academy Team
