Revised local authorities pay scales on forsa.ie
by Róisín McKane

Local government pay scales have been updated on the Fórsa website, reflecting the first income adjustment under the Building Momentum public service agreement negotiated by Fórsa and other unions, and overwhelmingly accepted in a ballot of Fórsa members early in 2021.

The 1% adjustment came into effect on 1st October and applies across the public service.

Next year will bring further average increases totaling 2%. A ‘sectoral bargaining fund’ will award the equivalent of a 1% increase from 1st February 2022. Most grades will get a straight 1% increase, though a small number are using the available funds to address outstanding claims or awards.

Then, a second general round increase of 1% of gross pay or €500 a year, whichever is the greater, kicks in in October 2022.

Fórsa's local government and local services division represents over 12,000 local authority workers including clerical, administrative, management, technical and professional staff. The same increases apply to general operative and related grades, but the revised scales have not yet been published.
