Boards and Voluntary Agencies AGM

Please, make sure that at least one member from your workplace attends the BVA Branch Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 21st February 2017 at 6pm, in IMPACT’s newly refurbished Head Office, Nerney’s Court, Dublin 1 (beside Temple St. Children’s Hospital). The meeting will begin at 6.30pm with refreshments (hot and cold food) from 5.30pm.

Guest speakers will include Fr. Peter McVerry. A raffle for ‘One4all’ vouchers (1 x €50 & 2 x €25) will be held on the night.

Social Care Worker Code of Professional Conduct

Social Care Workers have until Tuesday 27th February 2017 to submit their observations on the draft of the ‘Social Care Workers Registration Board Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics Bye-Law.

IMPACT’s Social Care Workers may submit their observations of the draft Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics Bye-Law to Carol Nevin, PA to Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Chris Cully by 5pm Friday the 17th February. cnevin@impact.ie

Health and Social Care Professionals Forum - Feedback

Anyone who missed the HSCP event on January 28th can still feedback answers to the questions that led the discussion on the day.

Roundtable 1: Professional Practice in Ireland under CORU

  1. What does CORU registration mean for you as a profession? Identify what you see as the challenges and the positives.
  2. A condition of your registration is to engage in CPD. Does your employer currently provide any supports for CPD?  What supports do you believe your employer should provide?

Roundtable 2: The Future of Health Service Provision in Ireland

  1. What observations do you have about restructuring in the Health Services from a profession viewpoint?
  2. Should cross-profession reporting be feature of any new structure? Yes / No and Why?

Roundtable 3: Representing HSCP members effectively

  1. How can IMPACT improve engagement with HSCP members?
  2. What barriers do members face when getting involved with IMPACT campaigns and negotiations?

Homeless Event

Trinity College School of Social Work and Social Policy and Focus Ireland are holding an event to discuss Finland’s experience of Housing First.

Juha Kaakinen, the Director of the Y-Foundation, the Finnish organisation which spearheaded their radical transformation of homeless services will be addressing a public meeting in Dublin on the 8th February at 6.30pm in the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street.

The Chair of the Y-Foundation, Mr. Matti Harjuiemi, who is also the president of the Trade Union of Finnish Construction Workers, will also speak at the meeting. Click here for more info.
