Conference opens this morning at 9.30am in the Lettermore Suite. Delegates will be treated to a very special performance, so be sure to be on time!
Minister Helen McEntee will address delegates at 10.20am. A new redeployment scheme for SNAs has been announced this morning and Fórsa has issued a response welcoming this announcement calling it "long overdue."
Her speech will be followed by a response from national secretary Andy Pike, and then the serious business of conference motions will begin at 10.50am.
Don’t forget to visit the exhibitors stands in the Ballyvaughan Suite. They will be present all day, save for between 12pm-2pm when they will make way for the lunchtime fringe meeting which will also take place in the Ballyvaughan Suite. The fringe meeting is on Addressing Gender-Based Violence. If you wish to attend you should register at the conference helpdesk or at the Fórsa Youth stand.
Don’t miss the panel discussion this afternoon at 2.25pm which will reveal the results of our recent national survey on injuries, assaults and stress at work. Read the summary of the survey findings here. In the survey 88% of you told us you feel stressed at work and 55% indicated you have experienced an assault at work.
This year’s conference theme, Enhancing Education by Valuing Education Staff, is a powerful reminder of the respect our members deserve for the hugely impactful work they do. Education transforms lives, but without education workers there is no education system. Listen to members from across the division talk about their work and union activism in our conference video.
