In an unexpected move, the recruitment freeze at the HSE, unilaterally imposed last October, is to end today, according to its chief exec. 


In other news today, tented accommodation for asylum seekers at Crooksling in south Dublin is “dirty”, “humiliating” and often feels “unsafe”, residents at the site and volunteers have said. 

 

Meanwhile, the Government has appointed forensic accountants amid concerns about “significant fraud” by some accommodation providers housing refugees and asylum seekers. 

 

Elsewhere, on Saturday, President Michael D Higgins announced he is taking the unusual step of convening the Council of State over concerns about the constitutionality of a Bill regulating Defence Forces’ representative associations. 

 

While there was some tail-end analysis of the situation at Aer Lingus, as IALPA prepares to ballot its members on last week's Labour Court recommendation, The Irish Times had this overview of industrial relations in the aviation sector as it currently stands.
