Martin Wall reports in today's Irish Times that the "controversial financial emergency legislation" (FEMPI), under which a series of pay cuts were applied to public service workers in response to the economic crash in 2008, has now been completely unwound.

The final unwinding of FEMPI was announced yesterday by the Minister for Public Expenditure Paschal Donohoe. Unions had sought the full and final unwinding of the legislation in the pay talks that led to the current public service pay agreement. 

In other news, Pat Leahy reports in the Irish Times today that the Government is nearing a decision on the future of the television licence fee and the funding model for RTÉ in the future.

Elsewhere, a new ESRI report says at least 35,000 new homes and as many as 53,000 may be required each year to meet housing demand, cool and windy conditions are forecast for this week as July begins with less than summery weather (file that one under 'no sh*t Sherlock'), and grim news from Washington as Trump's stacking of the US Supreme Court pays off...for Trump.
