In the Irish Examiner Niamh Griffin covers two health stories as one. The first is news that the HSE has been asked to look at a recruitment and retention bonus for therapists as it looks like a pilot programme bringing therapies back to special schools "will be staffed by over-stretched therapists already working with Children’s Disability Network Teams, as new staff cannot be found." Griffin's article also reports the latest on the situation in community and voluntary health services as talks at the WRC ended without agreement last week.

In other news, an airline company alleged to have illegally transported Israeli-bound military equipment through Irish airspace has started routing its aircraft around Ireland since news of the flights broke, while in IR news, €60,000 is awarded to a woman after she was unfairly dismissed as a result of a disability.

As you know we've seen a growing amount of space given over to news and opinion items about remote working. In case you missed it, Jen Hogan published this long read last weekend, which gathered the views of a wide variety of workers, including Fórsa's own Brendan Kinsella. You can read Brendan's contribution here and here.

Elsewhere the same paper hosts a debate between Tom McDonnell (Nevin Institute) and Suzanne Connolly (Barnardos), about the best way to deliver cost-of-living supports in Budget 2025, which is taking place this day week (Tuesday 1st October). In the Irish Examiner Elaine Loughlin predicts who will get what in Budget '25.

Zen

Your Zen this morning is a clip of James O'Brien introducing his LBC radio show last week. Nick Ferrari had just finished his show in the adjacent studio, where his on-air guest was the fag-ash fuhrer himself, Nigel Farage. Take a moment to enjoy O'Brien's introduction.

Have a great day.

Niall
