In other news, more than half of office workers in Ireland say they’ve felt under pressure to cut corners on compliance in order to meet targets or deadlines, according to research by tech firm Landmark Technologies. 

 

Meanwhile, 27 people have been made homeless as a result of the unrest in Belfast last night, during a second night of anti-immigration rioting. Crowds gathered in Dublin’s O’Connell Street yesterday to protest against immigration and the EU migration pact, and were addressed by figures involved in the April fuel blockades. The EU migration pact comes into effect on Friday. 

 

ELsewhere, the European Central Bank is expected to follow up "an almost-certain quarter of a percentage point hike" to interest rates today, the first in almost two years, with another increase anticipated in September, and Chartered Accountants Ireland's pre-budget submission calls for index linked income tax thresholds, measures to address business costs and changes to capital gains tax (CGT).
