Elsewhere, the Irish Examiner reports that IALPA unanimously passed a motion of no confidence in Aer Lingus' chief executive and chief operating officer at its EGM last night. It follows an incident last week that led to the suspension of a pilot. 

 

Yesterday's launch of the publication of an employer's guide on Traveller and Roma Inclusive Employment heard that high rates of unemployment among members of Ireland’s Traveller and Roma communities are evidence of the racism and discrimination they continue to suffer. Emmet Malone's report says a number of existing initiatives, including an internship scheme in the Civil Service and a wider apprenticeship programme led by the ITM, "have shown that greater awareness, combined with even minor supports and accommodations, can boost employment prospects."

 

The Government's new, and 'long-awaited' housing plan was signed off by the Cabinet’s subcommittee on housing last night. The plan will go to Cabinet for approval on Wednesday with the full details to be launched on Thursday.

 

In related news, a local councillor has called on Wicklow County Council to consider working with the private sector to increase the development of local wastewater infrastructure. Cllr Pat Kennedy made the call during the local authority’s November monthly meeting last night. It comes ahead of a major policy change announced by the Government this week that will see builders being able to develop new wastewater treatment facilities in collaboration with Uisce Éireann for smaller housing developments of up to 40 homes.
