Hard Rain
by Niall Shanahan

That Irish Times report on Storm Austen is available here. Stay safe, it looks like a rough few days ahead.

Meanwhile, public service pay talks continue today at the WRC. The intense media front that blew in on Monday has eased off now that the talks themselves are well underway, although the chances of a senior trade union official being accosted for details by an eager journalist remains moderate to high. It's not even confined to the environs of Lansdowne House. Even as far away as Leitrim we see some scattered enquiries, but message visibility remains clear.

However, we see some squally gusts blowing in from The Farmers Journal. A storm front once known as Storm Colm (orAn Bord Snip Nua), long since dissipated, continues to gasp in our general direction, with slightly more favourable editorial winds approaching from The Southern Star.

Meanwhile, Catherine Prafiska writes in the Indo about how public support for the strike action last week was sustained because "partly, at least, because we are all struggling with the same thing," before adding: "These are essential jobs, vital for the functioning of society, and the people who work in them should have stability and a good quality of life."

Your Zen this morning is the first weather-related song I could think of. Don't judge me.

Have a great day.
