Remote work continues to make news. While the Indo reports today that the WRC has rejected all cases taken under remote and flexible working legislation, in the Irish Times Dr Clare Moriarty (Research Ireland postdoctoral fellow at Trinity College) makes a robust defence of career breaks and remote working. She concludes "we should be cautious about rhetoric that seeks to incite panic or portray typical civil servants as indolent desk-dodgers."

On housing, the governing parties are reported to be at odds over plans to introduce tax breaks for developers, while a new Europe-wide survey shows strong public support for EU action to "address the risks and maximise the benefits" of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace.

Meanwhile, as the news cycle continues to revolve around wasteful spending in government departments, it's reported that the Government is set to spend an estimated €7 million on shredding unwanted material. Elsewhere, first-time mothers are being affected by a shortage of public health nurses.

Zen

Today's Zen starts the week with some Curtis Mayfield. I hope it helps.

Have a lovely week.
