The Irish Times front page also has a story about a protected disclosure alleging cheating, within the electrical craft apprenticeship programme, has prompted serious concerns of alleged criminal activity and risks to public safety from potentially unqualified electricians.

 

Elsewhere, WLR picks up the story about the Waterford's Coastguard Search and Rescue base featured in the Sunday Independent. Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane has called for an independent review of working conditions for Irish Coast Guard search and rescue (SAR) helicopter crews, "warning that current oversight practices could be putting lives at risk."

 

Michael O'Leary is blowing hot on Kenny Jacobs' departure from the DAA, anticipating his replacement by a 'pudding.' Meanwhile, Fintan O'Toole puts his focus on Simon Harris, and says the Tánaiste is deliberately spreading disinformation on immigration, while the Ivan Yates stories keep on coming as a series of presidential election postscripts. 

 

In the US, the Democratic Party is wheeling out Barack Obama to rally the troops ahead of a series of elections. Incidentally, today marks 17 years since he was first elected US President.
