Yesterday the Taoiseach and the Justice minister signed regulations increasing the mandatory retirement age for Garda members from 60 to 62.

Elsewhere in IR news there's a TUPE-related row at the WRC as logistics giant DHL is accused of trying to avoid paying a “substantial” redundancy sum to an employee, while a long-serving member of SIPTU's admin staff has been awarded €15,000 at the WRC. That story is also in the Indo.

Meanwhile, the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council (IFAC) has said government policy has added about €1,000 in costs to households and is "needlessly" adding to price pressures, as AIlin Quinlan in the Echo wonders whether or not the price of Oasis tickets contradicts the claim that the country is in recession.

Current pricing means that, for the price of a bike shed, you'd only get 809 people into Croke Park to see Oasis next August, but Michael McDowell says that's nothing compared to the cost of renovating the Leinster House Library.

Zen

I'm almost reluctant to give YouTube's algorithm any credit but, last weekend, it led me to a piece of music performed by Polish pianist, composer and singer Hania Rani. I've been captivated by her music since. She's currently touring but, alas, no sign of Irish performance dates any time soon, but I'll be keeping an eye (and an ear) out.

Have an incredible day.

Niall
