In other news, the Labour Court adjourned its hearing into the IALPA/Aer Lingus pilots’ pay dispute until next Monday (29th). 

 

ICTU is hosting the European Trade Union Congress (ETUC) learning seminar in Dublin today and tomorrow. Organised as part of the 'Trade Unions against Discrimination' project, the event will gather union representatives together from across Ireland and Europe, for a seminar that focuses on what trade unions can do to combat racism and other forms of bigotry in the workplace.

 

Elsewhere, it's reported that two Scouting Ireland directors have been pushed off the youth organisation’s board after scouting group delegates voted for their removal at an EGM held in Dublin on Sunday. Scouting Ireland staff are represented by Fórsa. In the Irish Times, a guest panel of secondary school pupils share their views on what we need in our schools. They want more creativity, less emphasis on homework and greater recognition of learning outside the classroom.

 

The Irish Times reports today that Betty Bissett (83), whose daughter Carol (18) was unlawfully killed in the Stardust, "cannot yet believe the State will “own up” to the “harm” it did to her family and those of the 47 others who died as a result of a fire in the north Dublin nightclub in the early hours of February 14th, 1981."

 

The Taoiseach is due to deliver a State apology to them in the Dáil today at 2pm.  

 

Finally, Ireland's newest national park is Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, composed of a mix of formerly privately owned marine and land sites around Kerry, it's now now under management of National Parks and Wildlife Service.
