Good morning colleagues,

Today's papers led with the Taoiseach's formal State apology to the families of the 48 who were killed on the night of the Stardust tragedy.

I recommend reading coverage of independent TD Catherine Connolly's speech to the Dáil yesterday, in which she criticised the State and its institutions, including the judiciary, which “actively participated in a narrative that sought to defame” the Stardust families:

"The establishment has learned absolutely nothing. The powerful protect the powerful and what happened here was absolutely class distinction. If the Government does not face that and begin to learn from it then we have learned nothing.”

Also in the news, the Tánaiste visited the Rafah border yesterday.
