Call in Six
by Niall Shanahan

Martin Wall reported in yesterday's Irish Times about how internal auditors have found more than 200 cases of health service staff receiving overpayments in 2023 "with a collective value of in excess of €5 million."

The Garda Representative Association (GRA) has said said it is “shocked” and “disappointed” by the Minister for Justice "clearing the way" for new Garda disciplinary regulations to become operational from next week.

Elsewhere, there are a few reflective pieces being published this week about the pandemic, as we mark five years since the imposition of restrictions. This survey in the Irish Times reveals an age factor in attitudes toward remote working: "Younger people were most likely (80 per cent) to say their job satisfaction has improved since they started working from home while those aged 50 to 59 were least likely (59 per cent) to feel this." A correspondent to the paper's Work Q&A section  - a civil servant - highlights his concerns about isolation, mental health and remote working, not least because "there is little or no interaction with work colleagues, apart from the odd text."

Zen

Your Zen moment this morning is a short video in which a man volunteers to experience a simulation of period pain. On a scale of one to 10 it was a six that he said would have him call in sick for work.

Have a lovely day.
