Ashley Connolly appeared on Newstalk Breakfast this morning to talk about the ballot of our members in the HSE, which gets underway today. That interview isn't yet available online but I will update this morning's briefing when it's available. Meanwhile the story is carried in regional and national media.
This morning's papers open with the Indo story about a shortage of public-health nurses, particularly in areas of west Dublin, which has led to "parents whose baby is due a check at around 10 months being advised to do their own screening, with the help of a guide book and to contact their local clinic with any specific worries." The paper's editorial notes: "The recruitment freeze, which lasted months, also exacerbated levels of vacancies and, overall, there has been a near 7pc fall in public health nurse numbers in over four years."
