After Hours
I'll be brief, it's not over yet
by Niall Shanahan

Good morning colleagues,

I'll be brief as this morning we are in the middle of breaking news on concluding a new public sector pay deal.

Media outlets are reporting that the ICTU's PSC officers and Goovernment officials have been engaged in talks at the WRC since 11am yesterday.

What began as a meeting in which the sides were invited in to provide a report on their respective positions developed into a more substantial process of discussions. As I type this up this morning they are still in the WRC finalising the details of an agreement, but the process is not yet complete.

An online briefing for PSC affiliates is to take place at 10am, and we should be issuing a statement shortly thereafter.

Nevertheless, media outlets are now starting to report specific details of what the deal might look like. Please bear in mind none of this is yet confirmed, and talks are still ongoing.

Virgin Media News correspondent Gavan Reilly tweeted details earlier this morning, and the Irish Times is now reporting a pay agreement worth 10.25 per cent over 2½ years. The Indo is more speculative but reporting the same details, and RTÉ are on site at the WRC.

This morning's members' news bulletins have been put on hold until we can provide members with a more comprehensive update.

We'll keep you posted, have a good day and enjoy the imminent weekend.

Niall
