Saints & Sinners

Senator Laura Harmon published a bill last week, aimed at reforming the assault leave scheme for teachers and other education staff. The Echo's coverage includes a quote from Fórsa activist Samantha O’Flanagan.

The Indo reports on ICTU and IBEC's correspondence, to Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary, seeking a “higher new scheme rate” for those facing temporary lay-off or short time working. ICTU general secretary Owen Reidy said the maximum level of a new jobseekers benefit would not “cut it” for staff in the pharma and food and drinks sector.

In other news today, AIB has agreed a €1.2bn directed share buyback with finance minister Paschal Donohoe.

Zen

If you haven't seen it already, Ryan Coogler's latest filmSinners, is incredible. Gets a bit weird when the vampires show up - and even weirder when they all start singing Rocky Road To Dublin - but it's a cinema experience to be recommended.

Have a lovely day.
