Elsewhere, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions has  urged Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll McNeil to engage with healthcare unions in relation to the Special Leave with Pay Scheme for Healthcare Workers with Long COVID, which expired at the end of December. 

 

The main news story on the Irish Times front page this morning is about electronic components from Irish companies being shipped to Russia in vast quantities where they are often fitted to “kamikaze drones” for use against civilian targets in Ukraine. The Indo leads with Government plans to override planners following the rejection of the Rotunda hospital renewal plan. The Irish Examiner leads with news that the Government will announce plans on Wednesday to introduce a social media ban for under 16s as part of a clampdown on online safety.
