I had a moment of déja vu this morning as I read this letter in the Irish Times arguing that all of the promises of structural reform, including new departments and ministerial roles are nothing without improved "technocratic and managerial competence of senior public servants." Yes folks, Eddie Molloy is back, and probably quite keen to get some air time.
Following the successful launch last week of Fórsa's election manifesto, which focuses on public service pay, the 4-day week and investment in public services, today sees a group of trade unions launching the 'Respect at Work’ campaign. Backed by SIPTU, the Financial Services Union (FSU), the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) and Mandate, the campaign is approaching parties and candidates from across the political spectrum to ask them to pledge their support for legislative change to boost workers’ rights.
