A few media outlets pick up on new driving test requirements from Monday, following the recent dispute between Fórsa's driver testers and the Road Safety Authority (RSA). From Monday, new insurance requirements will apply for any taking a driving test. 

 

The Indo's editorial today waxes somewhat lyrical about the advent and impact of remote and hybrid working, calling for 'consultation not confrontation' between unions and employers on the issue. While it doesn't call for a change to the status quo, William Martin Murphy would've twitched slightly if he'd got wind of it.

 

ICTU's Dr Laura Bambrick spoke to Matt Cooper on Today FM's The Last Word on the issue, while the Examiner reports that unions have accused the Government of trying to "fob off" workers on the right to remote working.

 

Brendan Ryan writes, in the Irish Times letters page, that the rapid emergence of AI and its disruption to the human labour force means it is "timely to consider how public finances can remain sustainable in a future where income tax from human labour may no longer be the primary revenue source."

 

Finally, Europe’s largest trade union has said it will continue to fight for the rights of workers at Elon Musk’s Tesla factory near Berlin, despite failing in its attempt to secure control of the plant’s works council.
