Meanwhile, Emmet Malone reports in the Irish Times that 76 newly qualified paramedics have accused the HSE of reneging on a commitment to offer them all full-time jobs when they qualified.

 

The Indo reports that the Irish Congress of Trade Unions has written to Equality Minister Norma Foley to express concern about efforts by employer organisations to delay new pay transparency rules. ICTU told the minister that female workers “will carry the cost” if the Government bends to “11th-hour” lobbying to delay an “important piece of equality legislation.”

 

The Indo also reports that only a minority of Irish private sector employers expect to add jobs this year, well down on expectations at the start of 2025. 

 

The US and Israel have gone to war with Iran without UN or Congress approval, and without any clear objective. The price of oil has responded. The Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence Thomas Byrne said this morning that the advice to Irish people in the Gulf region is to stay sheltered and not to attempt to leave the area via land routes.
