Meanwhile, a continuing trend of layoffs in the tech industry is emerging. Microsoft dropped 250 Irish personnel in July, as The Journal reports that an Irish company that offers services to Meta (Facebook, Instagram, masculine energy) have been put on notice that 400 jobs are at risk.  

 

In wages news, the average weekly pay in Ireland increased by nearly 5% in the past year and has remained above €1,000 for the third quarter in a row.

 

The Irish Times reports that Dublin City Council has decided it will not remove the hundreds of Tricolours erected by anti-immigration groups around the capital "and will instead launch initiatives to “promote a deeper understanding of the Irish flag”."

 

The Irish Examiner reports that detailed employer communications around pensions auto-enrolment (AE) "will be critical to ensuring that employees are fully aware of the controls they retain over their pensions," as recruiters FRS claim the State’s new mandatory workplace pension scheme "will cost the average business €25,000 in additional employee-related costs" as Dominic Coyle responds to an employer's question about the scheme.
