Niamh Griffin in the Irish Examiner reports that a row has broken out between the HSE and Fórsa over the redeployment of therapists from children’s community disability teams into special schools: "Rollout of this pilot schools programme has begun but it emerged in recent weeks this can only be staffed by taking therapists from elsewhere. This is despite a workforce review already finding an average vacancy rate of 36% in children’s disability network teams (CDNT) last year."

Griffin also reports that an audit of a new financial system being rolled out by the HSE found costs have risen by over €40m since an estimate in 2015 and is likely to rise further before it is fully operational.

Finally, Emmet Malone reports in the Irish Times that the Minister for Social Protection has confirmed that pension auto-enrolment (AE) will come into effect on September 30th 2025 has received a qualified welcome from representatives of both workers and smaller businesses.

Zen

I don't know about anyone else but I found myself down a rabbit hole of old Kris Kristofferson tunes last night. There's an enduring quality to his songs. It's nice to be reminded. The Irish Times revisited Kristofferson's gesture of support to Sinéad O'Connor when she faced down a booing audience at Madison Square Gardens in 1992. Watching the clip again it is almost impossible to comprehend how she managed to perform that night, and to have done so with such grace, force and courage.

Have a great day.

Niall
