Ideal for Living

by Niall Shanahan

Protests at Connolly Hospital and St Luke's Kilkenny were very well attended yesterday, the Kilkenny People and Beat102 in Waterford are among the outlets running the story. Today we have protests taking place at Tullamore and on Fórsa president Martin Walsh's home turf in Drogheda.

In other news, Brendan Ogle's case has concluded at the WRC, which is also covered in detail in the Indo and Irish Times.

Meanwhile RTÉ's Montrose Campus is crumbling, which is why more programmes are set to be made off-site, and the North’s Department of Environment has awarded £450,000 to five bidders to tackle algal blooms in Lough Neagh.

With commercial property investors, city centre SMEs and tech companies pushing back against remote and hybrid working, there's a positive report on the potential of remote working as the first meeting of an All-Party Group on Remote Work took place in Leinster House yesterday. RTÉ's Morning Ireland programme spoke to Men's Shed founder John Evoy of Grow Remote about the opportunities of remote working.

In other political news, there's general mirth about the identity of Comrade Cobalt, so Miriam Lord is on form.

Zen

Your Zen moment this morning marks the anniversary of a relatively obscure music release. An Ideal for Living was Joy Division's debut release, the 12" vinyl edition was released on 10th October 1978 on the band's own 'Anonymous' label. The rest, as they say, is history.

Have a great day.
