Walking the Trail

Sabrina Sweeney writes in the Donegal News about staff morale in our health services following the debate at our Health & Welfare conference in Letterkenny back in mid-May.

The Government will mark the first anniversary of Ireland saying it would recognise the state of Palestine by urging other countries to “consider taking this important step”, as the Dáil was suspended yesterday during a debate on a bill that seeks to prevent the Central Bank from dealing with Israeli bonds

Elsewhere, the Government reports that employment continues to grow, with 90,800 jobs created in the first quarter of 2025. Total employment now stands at 2.81 million.

The Irish Times reports that secondary schools will receive a multi-million euro package of funding for science equipment and laboratories to support the roll-out of "controversial" Leaving Cert reforms from September.

Finally, a secondary school student has been awarded €9,000 in compensation after a Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) hearing found that he was the victim of gendered discrimination due to not being allowed to wear one stud earring.

I came across this trailer for a new film this week. The North is a fictional hiking film following two old friend, Lluis and Chris, as they walk from Glasgow to Cape Wrath via the West Highland Way and Cape Wrath Trail.

Have a lovely day.
