Swifties for Harris
by Niall Shanahan

Good morning colleagues,

Possible new immigration policies and Apple playing hardball top today's newspaper stories, followed by the news, announced yesterday, that the UK government has ordered a public inquiry into the murder of Pat Finucane.

In the Irish Times, today's top stories include news that a news survey finds that concerns about their financial wellbeing and the strain of the cost-of-living crisis are weighing heavily on Irish workers. As Budget 2025 approaches, many employees remain unconvinced their employers are doing enough to relieve the burden.

There's good news for Irish tracker mortgage holders, who are set to see their annual mortgage repayments fall by close to €1,000 per year as a result of two separate interest rate cuts expected to be rolled out by the ECB shortly, while Eoin Burke Kennedy writes that "real wages are forecast to grow as nominal income growth outstrips inflation, providing a much-needed boost to cash-strapped households after two years of squeezed living standards."

Zen

Like many of you, I was engrossed by the post-debate coverage of the US election yesterday (and today, tomorrow and every day until November 5th), but this endorsement, and the way she signed off at the end, sums it all up. And it made me laugh out loud.

Well played Taylor. I have only one piece of friendly advice, don't bring that cat to Ohio.

Have a powerful day.

Niall
