a tightened bow

Public service pay talks resumed yesterday at the WRC and continued until just after 9pm last night. The parties will reconvene at the WRC later this morning, as the Indo reports that yesterday's talks yielded some progress, and the Irish Times coverage expressing some optimism that a deal could be closed quite soon.

Elsewhere, the Ombudsman for Children has sought the reversal of a post-recession cutback in his role from assistant secretary general level to principal officer higher. The Irish Times coverage of the story draws on the Civil Service salary scale from the Fórsa website.

Elsewhere, the Irish Times Arts section has a feature on how architectural solutions to Ireland’s housing shortage have already been road-tested in towns and cities across Europe, and that the best of these are going on show in Dublin.

If you missed it, RTÉ's documentary on Monday night, about the life and work of Sinéad O'Connor, is available on the national broadcaster's streaming service (which appears to be actually working these days). It's well worth a look, featuring solid contributions from friends, collaborators, fans and a wealth of great archive material.

Have a powerful day.

Niall
