What's new

There's plenty more Brexit ahead of next week's Varadkar-Johnson pow-wow, as our Government ramps up preparations for a possible UK crash-out. The Irish News has this from ICTU's Owen Reidy.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's school secretaries' protest in Donegal is already picking up local coverage as Fórsa organises some transport to the demos, which are also planned for Dublin and Athlone.

A number of titles carry previews of a BBC Northern Ireland documentary (to be aired next Tuesday), which links both Martin McGuinness and Ian Paisley (senior) to Troubles-era bombings.

And Met Eireann's list of forthcoming storm names also causes a silly season-style stir in many outlets.

It's a year this week since I was asked to head up the communications for Michael D's re-election campaign. One of the highlights of the experience (along with the obvious) was hearing Fingal poet Paula Meehan recite her wonderful 'My father perceived as a vision of St Francis' at a campaign event in Tallaght. Pure Zen.

Don't waste the weekend.
