Many of the issues facing the Traveller community in the workplace will be highlighted at an event in Sligo this Saturday.

The Fórsa trade union will launch its Traveller Equality Network in Sligo Town Hall at 11am on Saturday morning, and the event will be officially opened by the Mayor of Sligo Gino O'Boyle.

Martin Ward of the Galway Traveller Movement, Bernadette Maughan of the Sligo Traveller Support Group and James O'Leary, CEO of INVOLVE will speak at the event.

Fórsa says the purpose of the event is to highlight many of the issues affecting Travellers in the workplace, including the depth of structural inequalities facing Travellers from accessing the workplace, as well as socio-economic rights, and a focus on public policy provisions.
