Rockin' up to Roscommon
by Bernard Harbor

Peter Nolan appeared on RTÉ's Today with Sean O'Rourke to do battle on Roscommon's flexiphobia yesterday, shortly after Padraig Mulligan did the same on Morning Ireland. The story also featured in the Irish Times and, having  given the story prominence all day, the national broadcaster settled on this.

As the council's cathaoirleach called for more talks, the Examiner's Stephen Rogers focused on our rebuttal of management's crazy leave claims. In other local authority news, there's going to be a review of the role of councillors.

Meanwhile, Fórsa's Cork Health and Local Government branch announced it's putting on transport to tomorrow's rally, and Lloyds pharmacy staff are on strike today.

Elsewhere, European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker was in town and making all the right noises, house prices are back in the news, and the foreign affairs department has apologised for delays in processing passports.

In some rare good foreign news, we congratulate Kiwi PM Jacinda Ardern, who yesterday became only the second sitting premier to give birth while in office.

I'm conscious that, once you give Dr Marten the boot, my Zen has been a bit music-heavy of late. But I'm going to see Elvis tomorrow so you're getting this.

Have a good one.
