The Irish Times reports that publication of a report by the Public Sector Pay Commission into Defence Forces pay, which recommended increases to allowances has been delayed as the Department of Defence sought other improvements in earnings and conditions for soldiers.

Richard Grogan has an opinion piece in the Irish Times which addresses how the National Minimum Wage Act encourages restaurants to use tips to pay staff, as it allows for any service charge paid through payroll to be taken into account in calculating the minimum wage of an employee.

The Irish Examiner reports that women’s rights group Women for Election will launch a €35,000 crowdfunding plan to help female candidates in future elections after accusing the Government of failing to do enough to address the issue, while calling for public funding for the initiative. It's also reported in the piece that the Dáil Ceann Comhairle Sean O’Fearghail publicly backed local election gender quotas as a “pragmatic” step that must be taken.

Water charges of up to €500 could be introduced from next year if Irish Water gets the go-ahead to impose levies on customers who waste water. The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities will make a decision by the end of this month on a proposal submitted by Irish Water to charge households found to be using water excessively.

The Indo reports that the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) has criticised the Government's response to the housing crisis. It says an upcoming IHREC report is critical of the failure to build social housing and the manner in which it believes the crisis is being portrayed as an "attempt to take the emphasis off the human face of the homelessness crisis."
