Update for Members in Tusla
Tusla Reform
As you are likely aware, the reform programme is underway. We have previously alerted members on how we are progressing the consultation process with your employer. We are doing it on a group-by-group basis. Some of the groups we have engaged with are: Executive Business Managers, Principal Social Workers, Social Care Managers, Family Support Practitioners, PPFS Managers, and Family Support Coordinators, to name but a few. It’s important to note that this is a process and nothing is agreed at this point. Please keep an eye on your emails for further information. If you do need any clarifications or information, please contact your local official in the first instance.
Aftercare
A review of the aftercare service has been underway for some time. A terms of reference was agreed, and independent joint Chairs were appointed. We attended several review meetings on this matter. At the most recent meeting on 9th July, an end date was discussed to try and bottom out this process. We are hopeful that by September / October the review group will conclude its work on this matter. You, the members, have been well represented by your colleagues.
Violence, Harassment and Aggression in the Workplace (VHA)
Based on your feedback we have formed a campaign group, of members within residential settings and internally here in Fórsa HQ, to begin a campaign on VHA in the workplace. We all know that injury to workers, physically and verbally, in residential settings is a feature of your working life. Whilst we know that your employer has policies and procedures in place, we want to see if we can improve upon these. We intend to consult members on this issue soon, so keep an eye on your emails.
Management Administration Members
On the matter of Job Evaluation in Tusla, you will all be aware that the Labour Court in November of last year asked both DCDE and Tusla to discuss this issue and form a combined position. We have written to the Labour Court several times this year seeking a further hearing on this very long-standing issue for clerical admin members in particular. We will continue to push for an outcome on this issue.
